New study hall in Nyaung Pin Thar village
The Karuna Mission social solidarity – Taungyi (KMSS-TGI) has been overseeing the construction of a school house for pupils in Nyaung Pin Thar village in Southern Shan State in Myanmar. The KMSS is a local organization which has supported other Lazarus-Fonds projects in the past.
The initiative to build a study hall and establish an educational program aims to improve the long term opportunities for the pupils and to enable them to take on roles as development actors in their communities. The school will prepare the pupils for higher levels of education. It will also inform the parents of the advantages of education and hopefully to lead them to encourage their children to study further.
The Lazarus-Fonds Europe has provided all the financing for the project.
The KMSS had three main responsibilities in this project:
Conducting education for the parents,
Organizing the education program,
Constructing the study building.
Coordinating with the village leader, construction workers, and other local persons.
The KMSS-TGI is based in Taungyi, which is roughly 1 ½ hours driving time from the site at Nyaung Pin Thar village. The KMSS team visited the site three times in the construction phase.
There were delays in the project due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and also due to the political situation. These factors also led to a rise in commodity prices. The political situation made travel to the site difficult.
These difficulties led to delays, but the school house is now finished and classes are taking place.
The photos illustrate the construction phases and the classes.
